About horror and the Netherlands’ colonial realities

Inspired by the works of Peele, Coogler and choreographer Cherish Menzo they’re putting together an evening that will present and reconsider the answers to a question that has long been on their minds: “What would a social horror or thriller centered around the Netherlands’ colonial realities look like?”

As with previous editions, this evening will start with 5 opening statements imagining such a work. Aside from Kip and Zeefuik, Cape Town-based DJ and illustrator Grant Jurius will be one of the presenters. Jurius will discuss his ideas of a Dutch-fueled social horror in the context of South Africa.

Open call

To give both the audience and themselves an even broader scope of the possibilities of these NL-rooted social horrors, Ira Kip and Simone Zeefuik are putting out an open call. The story entry they’ll choose will be presented as part of the program’s opening statements. For more info about this open call, please check PaarsPaars.nl .
